NIBBLE 2009 is a technology professional development day for Fort La Bosse teachers on Friday, October 9th, from 9am-3:30 pm at Virden Collegiate Institute.
8:30 a.m.: Coffee and beverages will be available, please bring your own travel mug/water bottle.
9-10 a.m.: Welcome and Educators' Panel (multi-purpose room)
Educators from a variety of geographic regions will be "Skyped in" to talk about their experiences with technology infusion.

Session 1: 10:15-11:30
A) Literacy with ICT for Senior Years Teachers: mandatory for all senior years teachers. Please choose this as your session 1 option when registering.
B) ePearl (K-8): presented by Malcolm Oldcorn and Laura Wright. This session will give participants an overview of this web-based portfolio tool that encourages active reflective learning.
C) SMARTBoards (K-4): presented by Devon Caldwell. Participants will view a variety of learning experiences that have been created in SMART Notebook 10 software while learning how to make similar activities.
D) Digital Storytelling (K-12): Everyone loves a good story. During this overview of digital storytelling you'll find some ideas to engage your students with a digital story. Participants are asked to bring a series of 5- 10 images with them on a flash drive or stored in a network drive for use in the workshop. presented by John Evans, MECY
E) Web 2.0 Pedagogy and Tools (K-12): presented by Rob Fisher and Darren Kuropatwa, MECY

A) Building Professional Learning Networks (K-12): presented by John Evans, MECY. Teaching is an ever evolving practice and as educators we need to stay current. Being part of a professional learning network is a vital way to keep informed and educated right from your desktop via some key social networking tools and many other possibilities.
B) SMARTBoards in the Middle/Senior Years (Grades 5-12): presented by Kent Schiltroth.
C) Mimio (K-12): an introduction to the Mimio interactive whiteboard device and the accompanying software. Presented by Cheryl Healey
D) Microsoft Office 2007 Tips and Tricks (K-12) presented by Dave Adams
E) Interactive Response Systems in the Classroom (K-8): using Senteo clickers, Lori will demonstrate the many applications of this assessment tool.
2:00-2:15: refreshment break
Session 3: 2:15-3:30
A) WebCT (Grades 9-12): presented by Wanda Elliot. Wanda will explain to teachers how to request a course and the many uses and benefits of online courses in the senior years.
B) Assistive and Augmentative Technologies (Grades 5-12, K-12 resource teachers): presented by Bev Leckie and Michelle Pool. An overview of supports, including technological supports, for students with a variety of disabilities who are considering attending a post-secondary educational institute.
C) Presentation Design and Tools (K-12): presented by Rob Fisher and Darren Kuropatwa, MECY. Alternatives to the traditional PowerPoint presentation (a variety of web-based tools) will be explored and effective presentation design will be discussed.
D) Validating Information on the Web (K-12): presented by John Evans, MECY. If its on the internet it must be true, right? Maybe...learn some valuable techniques to weed through the information overload that is the internet.
E) GroupWise Tips and Tricks (K-12): presented by Bill Wynn.
